HURT finishes in the top half of the standings in the Texas Sevens Series Standings. Out of 23 teams, HURT Sevens ranked top 8 with 25 total points. This was HURT’s first Sevens season and look forward to topping the league next summer.

HURT 1st Side goes down in a heartbreaker to the Bonobos 21-19, while the HURT Social Side opens up with two wins against the Deadwood and the Hardwood.

It’s been a tough afternoon for HURT as we move into the evening session of the tournament and hopefully it provides a boost for our fortunes. In what has been a familiar story this sevens campaign games have been decided by the bounce of a ball. So close but so far. Todays 1st side results bare the same story.

Evening Session.
It would seem that HURT are better under lights!! A semi final win against cross town rivals BARC catapulted them into the Bowl Final against Fort Polk. The soldiers were very fit but HURT’s skill wore them down! HURT WINS THE BOWL!

LONE STAR SEVENS TOURNAMENT FINAL UPDATE FROM HEAD COACH DAN GREEN:
The day was full of mixed fortunes with wins against San Antonio & The Woodlands but losses against Shreveport & El Azul. In the final, HURT faced off against tournament veterans: The Sperms. An exhausted HURT outfit fought valiantly but finished just a little short losing 26-14. A great effort by all those involved and and all bodes well for the Cherrybone Sevens on the 27th in the Woodlands.

On Saturday, June 22nd, HURT will be taking part in the first National Sevens Qualifier of the year. The tournament takes place in The Woodlands, TX at the Alden Bridge Sports Park. Rugby seven squads from all over the country will be fighting for a chance to be in the National Championship at the end of the summer.

Guts effort from HURT today in ridiculously hot conditions in the Woodlands for the Sevens National Qualifier. They gave 100% all day but a lack of team continuity showed (this is only there second 7’s tournament together). Looking forward to seeing them perform well in their next event. Thanks to all that came out to support us.

HURT will participate in the largest sevens tournament in the southwest. Bringing a full squad of 14, HURT looks to establish itself as a dominate force in sevens rugby in Texas. The tournament starts in the morning of June 15th in Pflugerville,TX. The event can be found on FACEBOOK. More news and results to follow.

A spirited HURT team in their first sevens tournament for the year advanced to the plate final to take on the home town Austin Blacks. Unfortunately, Austin got the better of us today but a big congratulations to the HURT squad for the hard work they put in today.

Next Saturday in The Woodlands, HURT goes to work again. The National Sevens Qualifier hosted by The Woodlands Exiles. A whole day of rugby from 8am to 7pm.

If you are interested in playing sevens rugby this summer, HURT is having training at the University of Houston main campus soccer fields at the corner of Cullen and Elgin. HURT’s rugby sevens training is held on Tuesday and Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. HURT will participate in several tournaments this summer. Be sure to continue to check the website for updated tournaments schedules, dates and results.
If you are unable to play in tournaments, you are still encouraged to come out to training as it is a great way to develop skills and maintain fitness in the XV’s off-season. See the map below.

HURT defeats Rice University 43-19. The solid performance by the HURT 2nd side gives them an undefeated record in 2012-2013 season.
HURT dominates Katy 58-7. The win ends the 2012-2013 season with a record of 8-2 and #3 overall in TRU DII.
HURT defeats BARC 42-14 in a hard-hitting match to clinch the #1 spot in the south division. Details to follow soon.
